Almondsbury Surgery is a rural surgery that still operates by putting patients first. It is always possible to get a same day appointment and if you get there just before 08:30 rarely is there a long wait. The reception team, nurses and support staff go out of their way to be helpful.

I'm extremely lucky insofar as I don't go to the doctors frequently but I've been there very recently and there's something different about the place. I've always found the surgery to be very well run, easy to get an appointment etc. There are a couple of new receptionists who seem very friendly and approachable which seems to have impacted on the receptionists who have been there a long time and who may have been described in the past as rather daunting and unapproachable. This all makes for a much friendlier, familiar atmosphere. The Phlebotomist Jane is not only good at getting blood out of invisible veins, but she's friendly, smiley and welcoming and knows a lot of people in the community. I had a problem setting up the new online booking service and a simple telephone call to the surgery was all that was needed to sort it out, thank you. Please don't do away with the walk-in surgeries though. It is such a great system and would be a very different story if we all had to phone or go online to make our appointments. I feel we are more fortunate in that respect than other parts of the country. Finally, I love all the artwork from the local artists and please can we have Radio 2 back to listen to? Thanks to everyone, you're doing a great job and I feel in very good hands.

The care I have received over the years by the doctors and all the staff has been wonderful. Just wish that the practice was open all day on a Saturday.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. Unfortunately there is no funding to allow us to open all day on a Saturday. To do this we would have to close on another day

This is a excellent well run surgery. It may be a good idea to have an answer phone available for the period when the surgery is closed (ie lunchtime). This way non-important messages can be left without having to ring back. The surgery has procedures in place for urgent cases.

Thank you for taking time to leave feedback. We used to have an answer phone system but found that frequently messages were distorted (particularly if from a mobile and poor signal area) which did not give us the confidence that we had the exact message. We advertise our opening hours and hope that patients will call with non urgent inquiries and requests during opening hours. Of course we always have a doctor on call and contactable during lunch time to deal with urgent requirements and how to do that is very straight forward with instructions on the voice mail message if one rings when the surgery is closed at lunchtime
